Updates:

  • Five locations across Nepal remain obstructed due to floods and landslides, according to Nepal Police Headquarters.

  • Koshi Highway (Sankhuwasabha): Blocked since May 19 (Jestha 6) after floods in Bhotkhola-4, Barun Khola washed away a culvert, completely halting traffic between Khandbari and Thumsur.

  • Mechi Highway (Ilam): Nighttime vehicle movement restricted by the District Administration Office—from 7 PM to 6 AM daily—as a safety precaution due to road instability.

  • Jomsom–Korala Road (Mustang): Fully obstructed between Chhusang and Tangbe in Varagung Muktichhetra-3 because of landslides and debris flow at the Kalabhir section.

  • Pasang Lhamu Highway (Rasuwa): Multiple sections blocked at Tatopani, Baluwa Khani, Ghatte Khola, and Phyanglung under Gosainkunda-2 following continuous rockfall and mudslides.

  • The Nepal–China bridge at Gosainkunda-2 remains closed since Asar 24 (July 8) due to previous structural damage.

  • Larke Pass (Manaslu) & Thorong La Pass (Annapurna Circuit) are open.

  • Flights to and from Lukla have resumed as the weather has finally cleared, bringing relief to stranded travelers.

  • A person injured by a falling rock on the Manaslu trail was safely rescued with police and locals' help.

Safety Reminders for Travelers:

  • Expect lower temperatures at high altitudes — frost, ice, and snow may still be present.

  • Be alert on altitude sickness especially at high mountain passes.

  • Dress in layers and keep warm.

  • Stay alert for mudslides and rockfalls along trails and highways.

  • If traveling by road, ensure your vehicle is in good condition and the driver experienced with Himalayan terrain.
